Associate Training and Development
The firm is committed to training its new lawyers in day-to-day aspects of legal practice, as well as providing instruction in substantive areas of law. The firm's Associates Committee sponsors a series of introductory seminars designed to acquaint lawyers both with the firm's administrative systems, as well as to provide practical tips concerning the day-to-day practice of law. The firm also maintains a general program of associate training, largely administered by the various practice groups to address particular needs that are identified by those groups.

An essential element of the firm's training program is its lawyer review process. In addition to regular feedback from those lawyers with whom a new lawyer works, the firm formally reviews all associates in both July and December of each year. Each review involves a detailed assessment of the lawyer's strengths and weaknesses.

While training and review are important means by which the firm helps new lawyers develop, we believe that neither can substitute for real experience. Accordingly, the firm is committed to ensuring that new lawyers assume an important role on matters after only a very short time with the firm.
