Our clients expect the highest quality of legal work. Therefore, we hire lawyers who have the ability and desire to provide the best possible legal service to the firm's clients. Our hiring standards are high because we seek the best and brightest. Although we expect academic excellence, that is not our sole criterion. We seek lawyers who are well-rounded, energetic, creative, and dedicated to the practice of law. We put a premium on good judgment, character, humor, and interpersonal skills.

Another advantage of the selective hiring process is that the firm will permit new lawyers to take on real responsibility for matters from the outset of their practice. Thus, we anticipate that lawyers will be able to develop quickly. As one of our associates recently wrote:

"It has been my experience at Bradley Arant that young associates are given as much responsibility as they indicate they are ready to assume in any given case or transaction. Our firm believes that the best way to learn is to work alongside those with more experience, being involved in crucial decisions throughout a case or transaction, not performing discrete tasks without being involved in the whole. Our first year associates regularly find themselves in court (and often trying cases) on the litigation side, and heading up and closing deals on the transactional side. Young associates are encouraged to meet clients and interact directly with them which is unusual, especially for a firm our size. I believe that the manner in which Bradley Arant encourages young associates to accept responsibility is indicative of the firm's commitment to training people to become lawyers who will be with the firm for their career."
