Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP was organized more than 100 years ago in Birmingham, Alabama. The firm presently has more than 250 lawyers from nineteen different law schools at offices located in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Huntsville, Alabama, Jackson, Mississippi, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C. The firm represents a variety of local, regional, national, and international clients. We have long been one of the largest law firms in Alabama. We believe that our size allows for a sophisticated and challenging practice, and we attribute our continued growth to our ability to understand our clients' problems and to solve them by providing the right combination of legal services and practical advice.

For us, quality of life is just as important as the sophistication of our practice. Bradley Arant offers that rare opportunity to enjoy both without compromising either. We place a high value on personal integrity, relationships, camaraderie, diversity, mutual respect, community, and professionalism.

We are steadfastly committed to providing the highest standards of legal service. In recognition of this commitment, many of our lawyers have been selected for membership in professional organizations which recognize outstanding attorneys in particular fields including the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Tax Counsel, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American College of Construction Lawyers, the American College of Bankruptcy, the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, the American Law Institute, the Southern Federal Tax Institute, the American Tax Policy Institute, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Two of our lawyers have been members of the Product Liability Advisory Council. We rank first in the nation in the percentage of our attorneys selected by other attorneys across the land for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®, 2005-2006 edition. Since 1923, the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory has selected our firm to serve as the reviser of its Alabama Law Digest.

Practice Areas and Organization
Bradley Arant has a diversified civil practice including environmental law, labor and employment, health care, employee benefits, construction, litigation, general corporate, partnership and business entity law, mergers and acquisitions, banking, bankruptcy and creditor rights, tax, estate planning, energy, trade regulations, international trade, securities, municipal finance, real estate, governmental affairs, white collar criminal defense, intellectual property, and antitrust. This wealth of practice opportunities, coupled with the camaraderie of the firm's lawyers, sets Bradley Arant apart from other firms.

The firm is organized into practice groups. Unlike some firms, however, the firm is not rigidly departmentalized and most lawyers belong to several different practice groups, or practice law in areas that are not the subject of any particular practice group. Through this organization, new lawyers can be exposed to and obtain familiarity with a number of different areas of law without a formal rotation process.

The firm's management consists of an Executive Committee led by a Chairperson. The Executive Committee and Chairperson are elected for terms by the partners of the firm. Each area of practice has a practice group chair who coordinates workload and other administrative matters. Our Associates Committee is the vehicle for associate orientation, training, and regular feedback and reviews.

Our Attorneys
One of the primary strengths of Bradley Arant is its people. The firm has a long history of great men and women, from Lee Bradley (who continued to come into the office until his mid-90s), Douglas Arant (a leading reformer in the New South before there was such a thing), and Ellene Winn (one of the first female partners in a large law firm anywhere in the country), to the most recent class of associates. We pride ourselves on our ability to attract and retain lawyers who have demonstrated academic success and yet combine that intelligence and work ethic with a healthy dose of common sense. With a low attrition rate, we also have the privilege of working with each other over many years. As one of our associates recently commented:

"Knowing I had a reasonable chance of finishing my career at a firm where I liked the people was very attractive."

In addition, we cultivate diversity among our lawyers because we believe that it offers better client service to be able to afford different points of view on client issues.
