Tennessee Justice Center Honors Pro Bono Law Firm |
| The board of directors of the Tennessee Justice Center has honored Bradley Arant Boult Cummings as pro bono firm of the year. The firm was honored for its efforts in representing needy families in their TennCare appeals. As a result of the firm’s pro bono representation of individuals during their TennCare appeals hearings, many sick and disabled people were able to receive needed health care. |

HealthSouth Client Scored Huge Win |
| Our client, HealthSouth, scored another huge win today, this time out of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, which rejected not one but two appeals challenging the Company’s 2006 settlement with the federal plaintiffs. In the first appeal, Richard Scrushy challenged the bar order that was a core component of the federal settlement, claiming that it unfairly interfered with his Indemnity Agreement with HealthSouth and deprived him of claims for advancement of attorneys fees and expenses. In the second, AIG—a very significant putative class member--claimed that it had been unfairly prevented from opting out of the federal settlement. If successful, either appeal would have cost the Company huge sums, and threatened the viability of the federal settlement, which was a critical milestone in the Company’s recovery from the massive fraud that occurred under prior management. In strong and detailed opinions, the Eleventh Circuit rejected both appeals, a great victory for HealthSouth. |

Tara Cleare Named a Finalist for the 2009 Nashville Emerging Leaders Awards |
| The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and YP Nashville, a partnership of young professional organizations, announced the finalists for the 2009 Nashville Emerging Leader Awards (NELAs) in 14 industry categories. Nashville attorney, Tara Cleare,, was named a finalist in the legal services category.
Finalists for NELAs are chosen based on strong leadership, community impact and success. The winners for each category will be announced at the awards ceremony on July 30. |

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Attorney Appointed to the Tennessee Judicial Council |
| Patricia Head Moskal, a Partner in the firm's Nashville office, has been appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen to serve as a member of the Tennessee Judicial Council. The Judicial Council studies recommendations for changes in state court rules and procedure, reviews proposed legislation referred to the Council, and addresses matters concerning the state's judicial system.
